How much heat does feed pumps lose on a feedwater line?
Modelled here: 2 × 0.4000 m² at 100 °C lose 993 W bare, and 47 W with 50 mm of removable insulation. That is 95.3 per cent less.
Where does the area come from?
Casing only. The motor stays outside the module, because covering it traps its own losses and cooks the windings. The default is scaled from the frame against the DN32 pipe: the vertical pump barrel is about 200 mm across and 530 mm tall. It is a scale reading, not a tape measurement, so replace it with your own.
Is it safe to touch once insulated?
The module settles at 26.6 °C on these defaults, under our 45 °C touch-safe target. We set that target against the burn thresholds in EN ISO 13732-1.
