Actuators and insulation.

A diaphragm actuator sits above the valve on a yoke. It carries a diaphragm, a spring and an air connection, and none of those want the heat coming off the body below. The module covers the valve and stops at the bonnet.

Why the actuator stays clear

Three separate reasons

It has its own temperature limit

A diaphragm and its spring are rated for an ambient. Wrapping the actuator holds the heat of the body against them.

The travel has to be visible

Setting a control valve means watching the stem move through its range. A covered stem is a valve nobody can commission.

The air line has to be reachable

The signal line and any positioner are connected, disconnected and adjusted in service. Covering them turns a small job into a strip-down.

The cover closes over the body and the flanges and finishes under the yoke. The yoke legs, the stem and the actuator stay in open air.
