Carbon Savings Certificate — from kW to a report line

Every framework on this site wants the same three numbers about an efficiency measure: kWh, t CO2e, money. This tool computes them from an eliminated heat loss — ASTM C680 method, published DESNZ 2024 emission factors, your fuel price — and prints a certificate your SECR paragraph, ESOS update, E1-3 entry or tender CRP can cite.

The tool

From a survey or the heat-loss calculator — e.g. 46 bare DN150 valves ≈ 25 kW
Heat lost at the pipe costs MORE fuel at the boiler — losses divide by efficiency

Carbon Savings Certificate

Verified annual energy & emissions saving

Issued for:
Measure:
Eliminated standing heat loss
Annual fuel saving (, system efficiency , )
Annual GHG saving (UK DESNZ 2024 factors)
Annual fuel cost saving (at entered price)
Method: steady-state heat-loss calculation to ASTM C680 / ISO 12241; emission factors: UK Government GHG Conversion Factors 2024 (DESNZ); fuel-side losses scaled by stated system efficiency. Figures are engineering estimates suitable for SECR energy-efficiency disclosures, ESOS action-plan progress, ESRS E1-3 action reporting and tender Carbon Reduction Plans; metered verification recommended for assurance. Issued via the Inzonex Carbon Hub reporting toolkit — modular removable insulation, UK Patent GB2508992.1 · contact@inzonex.co.uk

FAQ

Questions on this topic

Is this certificate an official document?
It's an engineering statement with named methods (ASTM C680 / ISO 12241, DESNZ 2024 factors) — the same basis consultants use. For statutory assurance, back it with metered before/after consumption; the certificate states this explicitly.
Why does boiler efficiency increase the saving?
Heat lost from a pipe was generated by a boiler that is not 100% efficient — eliminating 1 kWh of standing loss saves roughly 1/0.82 ≈ 1.22 kWh of fuel at a typical 82% efficient system.
Where do I get the kW figure?
From an insulation survey (we run them free for qualifying industrial sites) or the free heat-loss calculator at inzonex.co.uk/calc — both use the same ASTM C680 method.
Can I use these figures in a CBAM context?
Yes — divide the annual t CO2e saving by your production volume to see the reduction in embedded emissions per tonne of product, which flows into the data your EU importer declares.
