Filter in this order: (1) service temperature — eliminates most materials immediately; (2) environment — water exposure pushes toward non-absorbent materials and serious jacketing; (3) maintenance access — anything opened regularly needs a removable system, or the insulation won't survive its first year; (4) space/weight constraints — premium-λ materials earn their cost only here; (5) then price among the survivors.
