The state of France's industrial emissions

Across the 117 France industrial facilities with an estimated CO₂ figure (Climate TRACE), total emissions are about 52.9 Mt CO₂e/yr. The single largest emitter, ArcelorMittal Dunkerque steel plant (iron-and-steel), accounts for about 17% of that. The biggest sectoral share comes from iron-and-steel. Among facilities with a known operator, the top three — ArcelorMittal Atlantique et Lorraine SAS, TotalEnergies SE, ArcelorMittal Méditerranée SAS — account for roughly 39%. Most of these facilities sit in a temperate Köppen climate zone.
