160 industrial facilities in Canada, across 10 sectors, mapped and ranked from open data by type, capacity and CO₂ emissions.
Facility counts by sector, Climate TRACE v6 (asset-level capacity & CO₂e, CC BY 4.0).
Across the 127 Canada industrial facilities with an estimated CO₂ figure (Climate TRACE), total emissions are about 70.4 Mt CO₂e/yr. The single largest emitter, Algoma steel plant (iron-and-steel), accounts for about 7% of that. The biggest sectoral share comes from oil-and-gas-refining. Among facilities with a known operator, the top three — Exxon Mobil Corp, Algoma Steel Group Inc, Irving Oil Ltd — account for roughly 20%. Most of these facilities sit in a continental Köppen climate zone.
