Methodology

CO₂ emissions are asset-level annual estimates from three sources:

  • Measured data (US EPA GHGRP and EU ETS): actual reported emissions from industrial facilities in the United States and European Union.
  • Estimated data (Climate TRACE): modelled emissions based on operating parameters and fuel consumption, suitable for cross-national comparison but not facility-specific verification.
  • Open data sources: Global Energy Monitor (GEM), Global Carbon Atlas, national grid operators and Climate TRACE.
