Sources

• Power plants (backbone): WRI Global Power Plant Database (CC BY 4.0) — capacity, fuel, owner, coordinates, generation.
• Measured CO₂: US EPA GHGRP (public domain), EU ETS verified emissions, Climate TRACE (CC BY 4.0) — matched to plants by location + name.
• Climate normals: WorldClim 2.1 (1970–2000 monthly normals, 10 arc-min, CC BY 4.0).
• Regions: reverse-geocoded offline from open coordinates.
• Maps: © OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL), loaded on demand.

What we don't publish

No personal data. Russia is excluded. Climate-impact figures are clearly labelled estimates based on typical derating curves — not site measurements.

Methodology & review

Each plant page is computed directly from the open datasets above — capacity and generation as reported, climate context from offline Köppen-Geiger normals, and equivalencies via the US EPA Greenhouse Gas Equivalencies Calculator. Derived figures are labelled estimated; reported figures link to their public source. We make no projections beyond what the sources state, and we do not editorialise. The dataset is refreshed when upstream sources publish new releases. Spotted an error? Use the correction link below — we review every report against the cited source.
