The state of Malaysia's industrial emissions

Across the 39 Malaysia industrial facilities with an estimated CO₂ figure (Climate TRACE), total emissions are about 43.0 Mt CO₂e/yr. The single largest emitter, Alliance Steel Kuantan plant (iron-and-steel), accounts for about 12% of that. The biggest sectoral share comes from iron-and-steel. Among facilities with a known operator, the top three — Saudi Arabian Oil Co, Alliance Steel (M) Sdn Bhd, Petroliam Nasional Bhd — account for roughly 36%. Most of these facilities sit in a tropical Köppen climate zone.
