The state of United States's industrial emissions
Across the 1,908 United States industrial facilities with an estimated CO₂ figure (Climate TRACE), total emissions are about 568 Mt CO₂e/yr. The single largest emitter, Georgia Pacific - Brewton - AL (pulp-and-paper), accounts for about 5% of that. The biggest sectoral share comes from oil-and-gas-refining. Among facilities with a known operator, the top three — Marathon Petroleum Corp, Cleveland-Cliffs Inc, Exxon Mobil Corp — account for roughly 16%. Most of these facilities sit in a temperate Köppen climate zone.
