The state of Japan's industrial emissions

Across the 105 Japan industrial facilities with an estimated CO₂ figure (Climate TRACE), total emissions are about 164 Mt CO₂e/yr. The single largest emitter, JFE West Japan Works (Fukuyama) steel plant (iron-and-steel), accounts for about 12% of that. The biggest sectoral share comes from iron-and-steel. Among facilities with a known operator, the top three — Nippon Steel Corp, JFE Steel Corp, ENEOS Corp — account for roughly 66%. Most of these facilities sit in a temperate Köppen climate zone.
