How many insulation packages do I need for a 1,000-square-foot attic?

At 53.33 square feet per package and a 10% waste allowance, the calculator divides 1,100 by 53.33 and rounds up to 21 packages. Coverage and R-value must come from the exact product and application.

What should an attic insulation cost estimate include?

Keep materials, air sealing, removal and disposal, baffles or ventilation work, labor, permits or assessments, tax, other confirmed costs and confirmed rebates separate so quotes can be compared on the same scope.

Does the calculator use a national average insulation price?

No. Its examples are dated regional product snapshots or manufacturer coverage rows. Replace package price, coverage, minimum order and every quote component with current local evidence.

Does adding R-30 mean the attic meets an R-49 target?

Only if existing insulation contributes at least R-19 and remains effective. The calculator adds entered nominal R-values and displays any gap, but it does not inspect installation quality, compression, air leakage, moisture or local code.
