What to evaluate, as an employer
- Parsing accuracy on your real applications. Test with genuinely messy CVs, not the vendor's samples.
- Candidate experience. Application abandonment is a real and measurable cost; count the fields and the clicks.
- Whether screening is on by default, and if so what rule is running. This is the question that most often surprises people.
- Audit trail. Who moved a candidate, when, and on what basis — you may need this long afterwards.
- Data export. Whether your pipeline history leaves with you.
Where the regulatory weight sits
Pure tracking and workflow is ordinary business software. The moment an AI feature participates in selection — ranking, scoring, filtering — the deployment moves into employment AI, which the EU AI Act treats as high-risk with obligations on the employer as well as the vendor.
